Tang In-Sang (당인상, is a Former Member of the Great Tang Family of the Five Great Clans.
Overview[]
Everyone begins to consider their own life a misfortune after reaching the age of comprehending the will of the heavens. However, this old man, tang in-sang, has truly lived a life with awful luck smiling at him. The amount of poison and hidden weapons a poison arts practitioner could carry is limited and therefore disadvantageous.
For ages, the tang clan agonized over finding any possible way to overcome it, until they finally came, up with the method to reach the state of the Poison Body by poisoning their own blood. Nevertheless, this method wasn't that simple. The practitioner was mired with a severe fever that repeated daily, facing excruciating pain as if the organs throughout the body were rotting.
To endure this format least a decade wouldn't have been possible without inhuman physical strength and extreme willpower. Another issue was money. Making suitable elixirs required unspeakably rare materials. Naturally, the Tang Clan, which had to provide those elixirs on a daily basis, was left with no other choice but to set rigorous standards for selecting and training the candidates for the Poison Body. As such, the clan limited the number of candidates to not more than two per generation.
Unfortunately, Tang In-Sang failed to get a place among the candidates. The two chosen for Poison Body were none other than his elder half-brothers, Tang Cheon-Sang and Tang Ji-Sang. Even though everyone had high hopes for Tang In-Sang and praised him as the most exceptional talent in the history of the Tang Clan, he was excluded from the list of candidates for the Poison Body due to internal politics of the clan.
But the heavens had other plans. Tang In-Sang set off on an expedition to the dark canopy catacombs of southern wilderness in order to obtain poisonous spider ingredients for the majestic crimson, a signature violent poison of the Tang Clan. However, what awaited Tang In-Sang was not a venomous spider but a Man-Faced Spider. When a poisonous spider is left alone for thousands of years, it develops a personality and becomes spiritual. Its face starts to resemble a human, which is why it is also called the Man-Faced Spider.
The fight to the death had lasted for over three long days. All the Tang Clan’s martial masters were killed, Tang In-Sang himself sustained irrecoverable injuries while death was breathing down his neck, and only then did the Man-Faced Spider finally collapse. On the verge of death and driven by instincts, Tang In-Sang began sinking his teeth into the beast’s nape. The internal energy and poison qi the Man-Faced Spider accumulated over a millennium rushed straight into his body. The dissolution process took three consecutive months.
By that time, Tang In-Sang had surpassed the stage of Poison Body and was about to break through the poison wall, beyond which lay the Absolute Poison Body. However, at that moment, the martial masters of the Tang Clan stormed into dark canopy catacombs to check whether the advanced squad members were alive. What they saw first were the corpses of Tang Clans’ martial masters, decomposed by the man-faced spider’s poison to the extent that it was impossible to recognize their original shape. Whereas Tang In-Sang was sitting in a lotus position in the center of the cave.
Clearly, a misunderstanding developed… Tang In-Sang’s elder half-brothers laid all the blame on him. To them, he became an immoral person who didn’t bring the Man-Faced Spider to their clan but kept it exclusively to himself, and even killed every blood relative to silence them...and conceal his shameful deeds. Tang In-Sang rebutted several times, claiming that everything he had said was true and that his stage had reached the poison wall by an irony of fate, yet no one listened to him.
He was accused of being a person who got blinded by his desires, killed his relatives, and monopolized the clan’s property. Eventually, the Tang Clan sentenced their most talented kin to the ultimate punishment — an excommunication. Even though he tried to break through into the state of the Absolute Poison Body, no one in the Tang Clan acknowledged his deeds. Tang Cheon-Sang, his elder half-brother, personally crafted the absolute venom dragon robe as a symbol of the Absolute Poison Body and made Tang In-Sang wear it and leave the clan crawling with his limbs’veins cut off.[1]
